Christine Herres
Idaho Falls, ID

Ms. Herres has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Corporate Training. She is fortunate to include the following activities as part of her work history.
  • Storage, use, and transportation of a wide variety of hazardous substances
  • Collection, inventory, transportation and disposal, of hazardous wastes for a semiconductor company and later a large gold mine.
  • Employee training about handling hazardous substances including hazardous wastes.
  • Performed facility audits that included: refineries, abandon mine sites, laboratories, hazardous waste disposal facilities, etc.
As an Environmental compliance coordinator of a small mine operation owned by a large mining company. This mine was on the (NPL) National Priority List, due to spill that contaminated waters of the state. She monitored compliance to permits for air quality and emissions, water quality, wildlife, etc.

She also served as team leader of the Mine Rescue Team and helped develop the mine’s Hazmat Response Team. Later she monitored air emissions of a minerals processing facility, which was seeking a RCRA part B permit: This includes negotiations to construct a waste treatment facility on site.

She has participated in the Bannock County (Pocatello, ID.), Elko County (Elko NV), and currently is a member of the Bingham County (Blackfoot ID.); Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).

The INL’s CAB activities interest her because she believes it fits her work experience and interest in Environmental Issues. She joined the Board as an in-cycle replacement January 2007 and is proposed for permanent seating in May 2008 and resides in Blackfoot, Idaho.
